Chicago Blues summary
Nobody does Blues like Chicago. This collection of dark stories, from today’s best Chicago crime fiction authors, captures the depths to which people sink when they run out of options. The emptiness and pain spawned by greed. The violence—or occasionally, the bittersweet redemption—that springs from a broken heart.
The writers who live and breathe in Chicago make Chicago live and breathe in this stunning collection. Contributors include Sara Paretsky, Stuart Kaminsky, Barbara D’Amato, Max Allan Collins, Marcus Sakey, Sean Chercover, Michael Black, JA Konrath, Libby Fischer Hellmann, and others. With an introduction by Rick Kogan. |

"I knew a reading treat was in store the moment I read the table of contents. A book of short stories by some of the best mystery writers in the genre, featuring Chicago and the blues, was guaranteed to keep me engrossed in every page. I wasn’t wrong. Chicago Blues features well-written stories, and is a stunning read that kept me hooked until the last page. This excellent book of short stories has my highest recommendation."
—Midwest Book Review
"Libby Fischer Hellmann has managed to gather superstars and hungry young turks to craft a monument in words to this funky, mysterious and eternal American city. The echoes of backbeats and bullets roll across the haunted inland sea of Lake Michigan, and they'll rock you long after you
finish reading this fine collection."
—Luis Alberto Urrea, author of The Hummingbird's Daughter |
